Home The school The Director’s words

Education is a basic human right, so we are told. It should be that way but as long as a good many are left out it remains a privilege. When discussing education, quality matters as much as quantity, if not more. Seametrey’s goal is to make quality education accessible to the less fortunate. In doing so, I have no other ambition than to help my country get out of this vicious cycle of poverty-poor education-poverty.

When I see our local children here, I can’t help thinking "among them there may be a scientist, an artist, a philosopher and if not they could be skilled workers or competent civil servants." What a terrible waste for Cambodia and when one thinks of every country in the world where this happens, what a waste for humanity!

"Seametrey’s goal is to make quality

education accessible"

When I first began to dream about Seametrey, I had this burning desire inside to craft a better future for the upcoming generations of my country, to create a system where quality education was accessible to those less fortunate and not just for the privileged few. The dream has now turned to reality when the Seametrey Children’s Village was born. It has been a difficult birth at times, and plenty of complications along the way, but I believe this child has a wonderful future and I, and the rest of the people who have helped to bring life to the Seametrey Children’s Village are determined it will grow and prosper and achieve its true potential.

As much as we can, we attempt to raise our own funding for the Children's Village. In order to do so, we have opened a guesthouse next to the school. If you wish to support us and visit the school, you may stay with us during your journey in Phnom Penh. We donate 100% of our profits to help finance the school, in adition we create and market specialized tailored package and eco-tourism tours in Cambodia for those who want to see the "real Cambodia" where you get to know and understand the people, and again the profits from this, help to sustain the Children's Village.

"Seametrey will grow and prosper"

But as you can imagine, our ambition to grow Seametrey needs additional financing from new donors as well as our existing donors who have been giving us such wonderful support. We are in need of individuals and organisations who share the same dreams as ourselves, ensuring that Seametrey will continue to develop and expand. We have some ambitious plans ahead, here is an introduction to it, please feel free This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you want to learn more about my futur vision of the school. We also need your help to provide more teachers and develop the skills of our teachers to provide quality education to our children. Amongs other projets, because the new technologies of information and communication are so important nowadays, we want to expand our computer area so that our children will have the skills needed when they will be seeking for employment after leaving school.

Seametrey is a registered Cambodian NGO non-profit organisation legally registered in France and in Cambodia and has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. So you can be guaranteed that your donation goes directly in helping to sustain our existing and future projects.

I look forward to speaking to you.

Best Wishes

Muoy You
